Job Description

IT Cloud Services Senior Business Development Manager vacancy for a well-funded start-up with a market leading cloud proposition. You will be selling the company's cloud proposition that consists of IaaS and PaaS - their platform is built using open source technology.

JOB TITLE: Senior Business Development Manager
LOCATION: Homebased - Ideally South
PACKAGE: £100k base, £200k OTE UNCAPPED, plus STOCK

- Pre-IPO
- Established 5 years
- Exciting, hot start-up
- Very well-funded

- Must be a new business hunter
- Must have the ability to maintain relationships and develop accounts once through the door
- Solution sales person
- Selling into C-suite
- Open on vertical experience (but would ideally understand G-cloud and would have a black book within the public sector)
- Open on what you have sold but MUST have a technology background (you just need to be able to understand the proposition)

- This is a new business focused sales role selling into the public sector - namely central government bodies
- You will be responsible for managing their largest account (currently spending £100k+ pcm), however, this is not going to be a focus of yours as this is growing organically
- You will be targeting such bodies as the MOD, MOJ and DWP to name a few
- This role will involve selling their cloud proposition that consists of public, private and a hybrid cloud solution
- Their cloud platform is built using open source technology
- You will be targeted on circa £1.7m revenue of new business
- You will be pitching to CTOs, CIOs, IT Directors and IT Managers
- Deal will typically start off with the client committing to a free trial and building to ideally a £10k pcm account before growing naturally as they use their platform more and more
- Typical sales cycles are 1-3 months
- You will be extremely well supported by technical resources and they will be on hand to help you close deals once doors are opened
- There is huge potential for this role to turn into a managerial role for the right person and they look to grow the business
- The reason for the market opportunity is that historically Central Government bought all of their IT through the large SI's, tying them in to lengthy and costly contracts which were completely inflexible. In 2011 the government realised this was not the best way to procure IT, and so changed their policy to focus on procuring IT from SME businesses to A.) Spread their risk and B.) Buy more cost-effective solutions (see cabinet office "Digital Agenda")
